Vince Leffler

From a musical family in the Washington DC area, Vince's father was a Big Band Era trombonist and his brother Greg was a child prodigy on the clarinet and saxophone. Vince started playing trumpet at the age of 6. At age 8, he began taking piano and church organ lessons and placed in many local competitions. He started taking drum kit lessons at age 11 and played in a local cover band called "Xcentric".

In 1977, Vince started taking electric bass lessons with renowned session musician Wade Matthews and studied with him for 5 years. In high school, Vince received the "Best Performer" award at the UMBC Jazz Festival in Baltimore, Maryland and received a scholarship to the Maine Jazz Camp in the summer of 1983.

After High School, Vince attended Berklee College of Music. He studied performance and studio music under the professional music program and graduated Cum Laude in 1987. After graduation, he moved to Los Angeles, CA and played with several bands varying in style from pop-jazz to alternative rock and heavy metal.

Vince received the "calling" from God to move to Memphis, TN in May of 1992. He arrived in Memphis on Independence Day and soon found Crossway Church. He began playing bass with the Crossway Worship Band in 1993 soon after he met and married "the girl of his dreams". Vince also has played  bass in the 7 piece R&B ensemble Even Odds, performing in night clubs, private parties, and special occasions. He is also currently playing guitar for Dani McCulloch here in Memphis and plays regularly at  B. B. Kings on Beale Street. He also Charts music for area bands and songwriters.  During the daytime hours, he inspects and sets up guitars at the Gibson Beale St. Showcase Factory.

Vince led CWB into its first studio recording where he co-produced "All Day Long" with Jim Medlin and Doug Simmers at Jim's studio. Vince co-produced CWB's next CD "Amazed" with Tom Browning and and Doug Simmers in Crossway's own new studio. Over half the songs on "Amazed" were co-written by Vince and it included one of his personal writings "More & More". Vince played bass on all songs, guitars and keys on some, and sang lead on "King of Grace".
